Jack Florish - Artist
I aim for brutal honesty intertwined with irreverence in my work. Creating art allows me to seek acknowledgment absent in my earlier life. It's a means to convey myself, hoping for relatability. If others connect with it, they connect with me, bridging a communication gap I've struggled with. There's a fear of failure and abandonment that fuels this pursuit.
My work delves into personal experiences—loss, isolation, and anxiety—and draws from influences like Japanese photography, video games, performance art, and digital mediums.
Photography, with its stark honesty, lets me manipulate reality, providing a semblance of control amid chaos, oddly comforting in its familiarity.
Technology offers solace, enabling escapism and the creation of relatable experiences and entirely new realities.
My creative process starts with sketching ideas and then materializing them. I dive deep into analysis, deriving inspiration from items like Tamagotchi and video games, blending them into conceptual frameworks.
